Resuming New Regular UI Claims

The PEUC program is scheduled to end on September 4, 2021.  Claimants that chose to remain on PEUC when presented the “PEUC $25 Option” will receive an email from the Unemployment Insurance (UI) office notifying them of next steps to resume their new regular UI claims on August 27, 2021.

If you do not receive the email, it is because you did not qualify for the PEUC $25 option.

Statewide Office Appointments

The Department of Labor & Industrial Relations (DLIR) today announced it will not open statewide offices as planned for September 7, 2021 due to the significant increase in COVID-19 cases. In an effort to better serve the public during this time, the DLIR will expand telephone appointments for claimants with general unemployment insurance inquiries and launch telephone appointments for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims and for Employer Services. The DLIR will also continue to operate its call center. Access to all appointments is available via the web (Chrome or Microsoft Edge) at: labor.hawaii.gov/ui/appointments/.

Phishing Alert

Please be aware of a new fraudulent text messaging phishing scam requesting that claimants click on a link to either “fix an error” or “address an issue” on their claim. Do not click on the link, as it could allow fraudsters access to personal claimant information. If you clicked on one of these links and provided personal information, your UI account may have been compromised. To report this, please call the UI Call Center at (808) 762-5751 or 5752 and select option 4. You may also report fraud to the National Center for Disaster Fraud by calling (866) 720-5721.

Adjudication Appointments

To assist individuals that have claims with issues that require adjudication, the DLIR will begin accepting telephone appointments with UI adjudicators statewide on August 16 for the week beginning August 23. The appointments will provide an opportunity for claimants to speak directly to UI adjudicators to assist with fact-finding on their claims. Claimants can request appointments through an online link at https://labor.hawaii.gov/ui/appointments/.
